Fifty Shades of Grey

Makeup Monday: Fifty Shades of Grey x Make Up For Ever

February 16, 2015

Happy Monday! It's a long weekend here in Alberta and I'm enjoying the extra day off to just relax and do absolutely nothing. How many of you went out to see Fifty Shades of Grey this past weekend? Was it any good? I've definitely heard lots of mixed reviews!

Movie aside, Make Up For Ever is the official makeup sponsor for the film. In collaboration with the movie release, Make Up For Ever put together four different make up kits to achieve Ana's different looks in the movie. The sets include two lip trios, one blush trio and a kit for eyes and lips.

Victoria Down, Makeup Department Head for the film, actually said that Ana's lips were the makeup focus for the movie. It only makes sense that Make Up For Ever released two lip sets for this film! The Tease Me Lip Trios come packaged with a smudge-proof lip liner, long wearing lip gloss and a textured gloss. I tried out the trio in Nude, and Make Up For Ever utilized this nude shade to create an innocent, kissable lip.

The kit included Aqua Lip in 3C, Aqua Rouge in 3 and Lab Shine Lip Gloss in D16. As you can see from the swatches above, I would only classify the Lab Shine gloss as a nude shade. When applied, the lip liner and lip gloss apply beautifully and give off a light berry shade. It's almost one of those "my lips but better" shades, which is probably why this set has been labelled as 'nude'. Applied in combination, the products do not budge and give the lips long lasting colour.

Although the lip trio isn't truly comprised of nude shades, I like that you can mix the products to build the desired nude berry shade you may be looking for. The products are long-wearing and quite moisturizing too. If you're a fan of the book/movie, and love the Make Up For Ever range of products, you'll definitely want to add this lip trio to your collection.

Available for $38 via Sephora.

Makeup Monday: Draw the Line - Make Up For Ever Graphic Liner

January 19, 2015

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend to just relax and recharge. Life has been crazy busy lately and it's been pretty difficult to find the time to just sit and unwind, but I'm hoping to be back into the swing of regular postings soon. :)

For the first Makeup Monday of 2015 I've got a brand new product from Make Up For Ever to share. If there's one thing in my daily makeup routine I can't live without, it's a good eyeliner. As a follow up to the release of the Artist Liner last year, Make Up For Ever has released two new jet black liners for you to add to your collection. Ink Liner is a matte black liquid liner designed for precision, while Graphic Liner delivers ultra-fine lines with ease using a felt pen tip.

In my makeup routine I typically alternate between gel and fine-tipped pen liners depending on the type of look I want to create. I love pen liners primarily due to their ease of use and precision, so I was immediately drawn to the Graphic Liner. Just look at that sharp tip!

Like other pen liners, the Graphic Liner is light and easy to grip. What's different about it though, is that you do not need to shake the pen in order to distribute the formula onto the felt tip. This makes it feel much lighter in your hand compared to other pen liners. The felt tip is also very stiff, unlike many other felt liners that feature a flexible tip.

After testing the formula for a couple weeks I have to say I have a love-hate relationship with the Graphic Liner. For an eyeliner, I love how pigmented and precise the lines can be. The liner doesn't run during or after application and can last a full day of wear without smudging. It's got a nice semi-gloss finish and the pen itself is lightweight and easy to use. What's there not to like? I'm not the biggest fan of the stiff felt tip which can be a bit irritating during application at specific angles. I personally like my pen liners to have a flexible tip so as to give a smooth application without feeling the pen drag across the eyelid. When the dragging occurs I find the lines are less precise and have the tendency to allow the ink to spread a bit outside of the drawn lines.

Aside from the stiff applicator, the Graphic Liner is a solid eyeliner I would definitely recommend. It's available through Make Up For Ever boutiques and Sephora across Canada for $29 CAD, which can seem pricey, but the wear time and pigment intensity is worth the investment in my books. I'm considering giving the Ink Liner a try, just because it does feature a flexible tip and a matte black finish. Has anyone tried the Ink Liner? Let me know if you have and your thoughts in the comments below!

Makeup Monday: Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow

November 17, 2014

Happy Monday! Hope you're all rested from the weekend, ready and recharged for another week! Life has been a bit of a roller coaster lately - ever feel like the days are just passing by too fast?! Where does the time go?

Since I have such a busy schedule, I need my make up to keep up with me. This year marks Make Up For Ever's 30th anniversary and they've been releasing so many products that I am constantly reaching for. Not because they're new and hot, but because they're long wearing and put up with my 12+ hour days. The latest product to be released to celebrate their anniversary is actually a relaunch of their first ever product: eyeshadow!

Meet the new Artist Shadow collection: 210 eyeshadows in 5 different finishes (matte, satin, iridescent, metal & diamond), which took over three years to produce and perfect. The launch of this product officially makes the Artist Shadow line the most extensive one available on the market. Leave it up to MUFE to set the bar high! The collection promises vivid colour payoff and superior blendability and I am loving the performance of this product so far.

The product is available in single, duo, and trio formats which are fully customisable, as the pans easily fit in and pop out of the case. I typically gravitate to neutral shades and received shades S-556 (left) and ME-658 (right) to test out. Both are in the brown family, with S-556 being mushroom/taupe shade with a satin finish, and ME-658 being a warm bronze with a metal finish. The pigment payoff in these shadows is amazing. As you can see above, the swatches were done with a very light touch and came out highly pigmented. The consistency of both shades is soft, smooth, and easily blendable, giving over 8+ hours of wear before fading. Although the metal shade gives off a great shine, the satin shade has my heart with it's soft sheen. It appears as a matte shade in the pan, but it is easier to work with given that it isn't overly shimmery.

I had a chance to see many of the shades in the range up close and many of them are stunning. If you're in the market for new shades and a shadow that will last throughout the day, check out the new collection. After all, you've got 210 shades to choose from!

Available via Make Up For Ever Boutiques and Sephora across Canada for $24 (Discounts apply when you buy more!).

Makeup Monday: Make Up For Ever Artist Liner

October 13, 2014

Happy Monday! It's Canadian Thanksgiving Monday and I've been spending as much time as I can with family. I just wanted to take a moment to say how thankful I am to have the support from everyone who reads my blog! Your encouragement means the world, and I am so happy that I am able to continue to blog and do what I love! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Moving onto today's post, I have to gush about this new eyeliner that I'm loving. Last month Make Up For Ever launched Artist Liner, an eyeliner that promised to be highly pigmented and smooth gliding. To be honest I've never been a fan of pencil liners. I find that they always smudge and give me panda eyes, which is why I only ever use liquid or gel liners.

The Artist Liner looks just like your usual liner, but with a twist-up design it means there is never a need for sharpening. However, the trade off for a twist-up design is that you get less product than that of a pencil liner. The eyeliner is very sturdy as it is housed inside the shiny black plastic that Make Up For Ever is known for. The diameter is smaller than that of a pencil, making it easy to hold onto.

Reading the description of the Artist Liner, I was pretty skeptical of its promises to be smudge proof and long wearing. But let me tell you, this product definitely lives up to it's claims! I tested out matte black (shade M10) and one light swipe gave a highly pigmented swatch, as seen above. The formula is creamy, and blendable as long as you work quickly.

I found that immediately after application the formula was blendable for a very short (we're talking seconds here) period of time. The formula almost seems to set right into your skin...that eyeliner isn't going anywhere! After my swatch I vigorously rubbed over the area where I applied the product. As you can see, the formula lightened up a tiny bit but it did not budge. The eyeliner survived an 8 hour workday without any problems other than lightening up a tiny bit. This formula is a dream come true for me!

If you're after a highly pigmented, long wearing eyeliner in pencil form, look no further. The Artist Liner is available in 15 different shades with matte, metallic, iridescent, diamond, and satin finishes - there is something for everyone!

Available via Make Up For Ever Boutiques and Sephora across Canada for $24.

Makeup Monday: Make Up Forever Aqua Smoky Extravagant Mascara

September 01, 2014

Happy Monday! It's Labour Day long weekend and the sun is out shining - hope you all have the day off to enjoy the last bit of summer!

Back in June Make Up Forever released a brand new mascara formula to the market. The Aqua Smoky Extravagant mascara is a follow up to the original Smoky Extravagant mascara, but with the promise of being waterproof, which is definitely important for the summer months! Aside from being waterproof the formula promised volume, length, curl and precision - that's definitely a multipurpose mascara if you ask me!

Make Up Forever's new formula is made with micronized iron oxide to give the mascara an intensely dark pigmentation, and the micro particles are able to better coat the eyelashes. As the pigment is natural they claim that the formula is safe for use with contact lenses or individuals with sensitive eyes. I've spent the last month testing out this new mascara formula and I would have to say it's a must-have for the summertime. Packaging is simple and sleek, though I wish it were a little smaller to be travel friendly.

As promised, this formula is as black as black can be. Looking at the wand, the conical shape is one of the best things about this brush. The tip allows for easy application on the inner lashes while the fuller section effortlessly coats each lash from base to tip. The brush separates lashes, gives them length and volume, and my lashes remain clump free after application. It's a lightweight waterproof formula that holds curl and easily removed with makeup remover. At $28 its a bit of a splurge for mascara, but after seeing it live up to its promises this product is on my must-have list for summer makeup.

Available at Make Up Forever boutiques and Sephora across Canada.

Makeup Monday: Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Blush

April 07, 2014

Happy Monday, everyone! Spring decided to visit Edmonton this past weekend and I think it's finally here to stay. I'm so sick of the random snow storms and cold snaps. It's time for some warm sunshine and leaves to start sprouting on trees!

With every change in the seasons, I update my skincare and makeup arsenal to suit the changing weather and humidity. Make Up For Ever (MUFE) recently released a brand new blush formula for 2014 to add to their iconic HD range, and I've been testing it out for the past week. The HD cream blush is formulated to feel like second skin. It's weightless, blends effortlessly and is able to give cheeks that natural glow.

Let's talk packaging. The compact housing the product is the classic, sleek plastic used for almost every MUFE product. It's small and lightweight, with a study snap closure and convenient mirror inside for touch ups on the go. I really appreciate that there isn't any wasted space, meaning that there is as little plastic as necessary to hold the blush. Nothing drives me crazier than unnecessary materials to make a product clunky.

I have shade #215 Flamingo Pink, and its just a tad lighter than what I perceive to be the pink of a flamingo. The formula is smooth, creamy, and highly pigmented. Trust me, a little goes a long way! It's smooth to the touch and a breeze to apply, as it glides right over the cheeks to deposit colour. The blush can be applied with the fingertips, a sponge, or a fluffy brush, and I found that a full, rounded brush gave me the most even application. The formula lasted me up to 6 hours of wear with a natural finish, so I'm pretty happy with the product. The range includes sixteen shades, so there's something in there for every skintone. Have you tried this blush yet?

This year, Make Up For Ever is celebrating 30 years in the industry. To celebrate this occasion, they're looking to send 20 people to Paris for a week this July! I totally wish I could go. Whether you're a professional makeup artist or a makeup addict, there is a separate makeup contest for whichever category you fit into! By entering the contest, you could make this trip a reality for yourself. Full details on their website here.

Foundation

Makeup Monday: Make Up Forever HD High Definition Foundation

September 02, 2013

Happy Monday!! I'm finally back from holidays and it's the end of a long weekend - 1 more day until school starts up again which is a little upsetting, but I can't wait to finish up my last year of school.

Up this week I've got a product to share with you - one that I've been testing out for a while. When the Make Up Forever HD High Definition Foundation first came out, I remember seeing advertisements for it everywhere. It caused a pretty big stir in the beauty blogging world, so I ordered it right away, but never decided to use it until now.

This particular foundation is exclusively carried by Sephora, and described as "an oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life. This foundation creates a soft-focus effect, which is designed to meet the coverage concerns of those in the spotlight. It leaves your complexion with such a flawless finish, it can withstand bright or harsh lighting." It was produced when flawless, photo-ready skin was all the rage - and its description has a lot to live up to.

For my NC35 skin, I picked up Sand (shade 125), which unfortunately was too light for my summer skin. In the winter (my arm shade), it's likely to be a better match. Shade aside, you can see above that the product comes housed in sturdy packaging, with a pump to dispense the foundation. The foundation is quite runny, making it easy to spread, but I find that this can also be a downfall. I prefer high coverage products, so a thin layer of product on the skin results in medium coverage. It can be built up for higher coverage, but it makes the product feel heavier on the skin. At the end of an 8 hour workday, the product is still on my face, but definitely oxidized and has less coverage. The foundation has pretty good oil control though, as I don't feel greasy at the end of the day.

But does this foundation do what it claims to do? Yes. When applied on the skin, it leaves a semi-matte finish, and gives the skin a slight dewy look to it. It is lightweight if all you need is a thin application, and skin looks nearly flawless in photographs. Application with a brush gives the best results, as blending with fingertips doesn't give the most flawless finish. Although Make Up Forever has a high price tag on this particular product ($42 CAD), one bottle is likely to last a good six months, as the pump does contain a fair amount of product. It isn't my holy grail foundation, but it's a solid foundation that I would recommend to anyone looking for medium coverage and a semi-matte finish.

Anyone tried this product out? What did you think? Let me know!

Makeup Monday: theBalm Toile Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush

August 05, 2013

Happy Monday! It's a long weekend here where I live so I'm recovering from a relaxing day at the lake. Sounds like a hard life, right? ;) For those of you having to work today, hope the day goes by quickly!

Aside from lipsticks, my favorite beauty product to play around with is blush. It's a product that can be hit or miss, and I have a hit to share with you today. theBalm recently released their Instain Blush, which they describe to be a long wearing, staining powder blush.

First of all, the packaging is just so cute. Mimicking the layout of a magazine, the package itself is palm-sized, armed with a mirror and  encased in a sturdy cardboard material. Each different shade in the product range features a different "cover girl" on the front, so it's easy to distinguish one colour from the next

The product itself is finely millled, meaning it's buttery soft and velvety to the touch. The blush is quite pigmented, so a little amount does go a long way. Using a brush for application, the blush is easily blendable, and happens to build up quite nicely if you like heavier colour. Toile, the shade I have above, is a strawberry pink shade that would look great on all skintones. It is quite similar to Benefit's Bella Bamba, minus the glitter. Applied with a light hand, it has a natural pink flush tone to it, which is why I like it so much. In terms of wear, it did stay on my skin for up to 8 hours, but it did definitely fade a bit throughout the day. Pretty good in my books, if you ask me!

So where can you pick up this blush? Nail Polish Canada (NPC) recently started carrying the Instain line, and has all six shades available for purchase. At $22, it's a pretty good price for 25.5g worth of product! For a limited time, NPC has free shipping on all orders, so pick one up now if you're interested! Also, they're holding a contest to win $75 worth of products from theBalm, so click here to check out the contest and enter. Good luck!

Korres

Makeup Monday: Korres Face Primer

July 29, 2013

Happy Monday! I'm switching gears a little bit and working on getting some of my product reviews done - so voila, Makeup Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and got some R&R to recharge for this week!

I recently started using the Korres Face Primer as the weather has been pretty hot - a large majority of my full time job is spent outside, and I need a product that will keep my daily makeup in place. I actually first used it on my little sister when doing her grad makeup, as I wanted to make sure her makeup remained flawless throughout the night for pictures and to generally look well put together. After applying it on her, I loved the fragrance and results, and had to try it out on myself.

Being silicone free and 99% natural, this product is smooth and light, feeling weightless against the skin. It provides a canvas for a smooth, even makeup application, giving skin a flawless, natural look. I love the light citrus scent to the primer, as it isn't too strong and is quite pleasant.

In terms of application, the primer blends effortlessly, absorbing into the skin and drying relatively quickly. It's quite moisturizing, minimizing the chances of seeing any dry spots on my skin after foundation application. The primer worked to keep my makeup in place for 7+ hours, and I had minimal shine at the end of a full work day.

This Korres Face Primer is definitely my new favourite primer - if anything, the best thing is that it's almost all natural, meaning those of you with sensitive skin may want to seek this out! What's your favourite priming product? Let me know!

Makeup Monday: Pixi Flawless Beauty Powder

April 08, 2013

As Target is set to open soon across Canada, I figured it was about time I threw this review up for you guys! Pixi is a makeup brand carried exclusively at target, created by the makeup artist Petra Strand, and it's likely that it will now be available in Canada.

I picked up the Flawless Beauty Powder in No.3 (warm) on my last trip to the US and just had the chance to use it for the past month. This particular powder actually claims to do a lot: even out skintone, keep skin shine-free for hours, and provide UV protection to enhance and protect the skin. After application, skin should look youthful and hydrated - there's lots of promises there!

But lets talk about the packaging. The product is housed inside a sturdy plastic case, with a mirror and a pull out drawer containing a makeup sponge for application. The drawer itself is a little difficult to open, but after a few tries it will loosen and makes getting to the sponge easier. It's small and compact, making it quite easy to travel with or keep in a makeup bag.

I purchased the powder in Warm, which is the darkest in the series of shades they offer. I myself am a MAC NC30, and seeing that the darkest shade works with my skintone, this product is only suitable for people with lighter skintones. The powder is silky to the touch and applies matte, lasting about 4-5 hours before I see any shine on my skin. The powder has a medium coverage, so if you're looking for full coverage powders, this one unfortunately isn't for you.

While I have continued to use this product, I definitely wouldn't be repurchasing it - mostly due to the price for functionality. It's medium coverage and doesn't control my shine for a full day (6-8 hours is what I typically look for), and there's no indication of the type of UV coverage and strength. I do enjoy the matte finish, but unfortunately it doesn't live up to full expectations for me - I'm very busy throughout the day and don't have time for touchups, so I need to rely on something heavy duty to keep me looking presentable all day long.

Have any of you tried this product or others from the Pixi line? I'm looking forward to checking out more products once the line becomes available at Target in Canada!

Beauty Box Update: February Top Box

February 25, 2013

Happy Monday! Hope the weather was fabulous over the weekend wherever you are! Just a quick post today as I'm exhausted from a week of doing nothing (seriously). I woke up for a midterm this morning that was supposed to be from 1:30-2:30 in the afternoon, only to be notified at 12:45 that the exam actually started at 1:00. Uh, talk about stressful.

I've had some questions in the past couple weeks about the beauty boxes available in Canada at the moment, so I thought I'd touch a bit on the subject. In the past couple months, a lot of the beauty boxes have increased their prices and changed their products - some for the better, and some for the worse.

I used to fully support Glossybox - which in my opinion was one of the better boxes, catering to their clientele and customizing their deluxe samples. However, I've recently noticed that not only has their price gone up, the quality of their products has gone down - a definite no-no in my books.

For a few months I had stopped all my subscriptions to boxes as I had way too many samples to deal with. I still do, but was curious about Top Box. They've been known to offer high-end bands, and for a price of $12, it is one of the cheaper subscriptions out there. They have now also launched a Wishlist program (chose the box you want to receive most!) and something they call a Prive box, which is a box that showcases samples from only one brand. I've had the Clinique prive box and my February Top Box (shown above) so far, and I'm quite liking it. Hey, if deluxe brands like Deborah Lippman and B. Kamins are showing up in my box, I'm not going to complain.

Reviews for the products coming up ASAP! :)
Which boxes are you subscribed to? Thanks for reading & have a good week everyone!

Makeup Monday: Kanebo KATE Super Sharp Liner

February 11, 2013

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a safe, fun weekend - those of you out on the East Coast, hope you're alright and not covered head to toe in snow! Today we're switching things up and celebrating Makeup Monday, cause I'm so excited about this eyeliner!

While I was in Hong Kong last summer, I knew that my holy grail Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner would need to be replaced soon. But instead of picking up an identical one, I decided to discover some of my options, and the Kanebo KATE super sharp liner stood out at me when I was visiting Sasa one day.

The size and structure of the eyeliner is very similar to Dolly Wink, in that the packaging is very sturdy, and the cap fitting tightly to ensure the product doesn't dry out. Similarly. the the pen is very fine, flexible, and capable of drawing both thin & thick lines. Upon application, the product dries readily, and does not smudge or budge all throughout the day. It works so well that its difficult to remove, and can leave a bit of a stain on your eyelids if you don't take the time to thoroughly wash it off!

For the time that I need to be wearing the product for (8+ hours), this liquid liner is awesome for me. The applicator tip is precise, and the colour is just as intense at the end of the day as it is at application. Serious perfection. It also is a little cheaper than the Dolly Wink liner, and goes for about $10. I highly recommend this eyeliner, so do try it out if you're in the market for something new! It's available via Amazon & Kanebo.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Blush - Exposed

January 30, 2013

Ever since hearing Jen (From Head To Toe) rave about the Amazonian Clay blush from Tarte, I knew I needed to get it into my hands. But being a blush addict, I have WAY too many products and have been attempting to cut down. But VIB sales always get the best of me and I finally have this beauty in my hands.

Made from clay harvested on the river banks of the Amazon, this product works really well on all skin types. The clay blush looks really natural when applied to the skin, and is quite pigmented, allowing colour to build up with each brush stroke. The clay is supposed to minimize oil around pores, and provide hydrating benefits to the skin during wear - which gives your skin a natural flush all day. What I love about the shade Exposed is that its a great nude tone dark enough to double up as a bronzer too. It works really well for contouring and giving more definition to the face. The product is long wearing - up to 8 hours for me - and gives my skin a natural flush all day. The line itself has 15 shades to try out, so there's something for everybody. Do check it out, cause this is definitely sitting at the top of my list of blush favourites!

Available from Sephora & Tarte.

Makeup Monday: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup Review

October 22, 2012

IT'S MONDAY! And today we're doing something different.. Makeup Monday! Because I am really excited about this product and have lots of makeup reviews to go through, so nails will have to wait til next week :)

The Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup has been available in the US for quite some time now, and I had picked it up when I made my trip down to Seattle back in August. I believe it is slowly making its way onto shelves right now in Canada, so what better a time for this review?

I'm not usually a foundation person.. as I wear BB Cream or even forego the makeup and just use concealer on a daily basis, because I don't like to have too much product on my face. That being said, I was curious about this product as there were so many rave reviews about it - and this one definitely has been living up to my expectations

First off, I'd have to say the packaging is very sturdy - heavier than what I think it needs to be, as it can probably serve as a paperweight with all the product inside. I wish it was a little more economically friendly, but the packaging is simple and clean, making it feel like a luxe product. When you open up the jar, there is an extra plastic piece to keep the contents clean, but it can be a little bit annoying to have to remove everytime. I would really prefer a pump dispenser for my products, as having to dip something into the jar for every application is not very hygienic.

Packaging aside, I've been wearing this foundation product on and off for the past month (about 3x per week) just to test it out through the different temperatures and different day to day activities, and I'm really loving it. I picked up Nude 220 as my shade, and it's perfect for me right now. My skin is slowly losing it's tan and I'm getting pale - for reference I'm usually an NC35 in the summer and NC30 in the winter.. so this shade is leaning more towards NC30. My favourite thing about this product is the mousse consistency - it feels very smooth and silky upon application on the skin, spreads flawlessly and sets with a matte finish. I use my fingertips for application, and have no issues at all - a brush would likely work just as well, but I like to warm up the product with my fingertips.

Although it is marketed to last 24 hours - I never would wear any product on my face for that duration of time. The longest I've gone is 14 hours with this foundation, and it still looks great after that amount of time, with minimal shininess - the oil control is fantastic. The application allows the product to sink into the skin, and is quite moisturizing for my face, and looks more natural after it sets. This product is medium coverage, but definitely buildable to give a completely flawless canvas on your face! It is so light once applied on skin and I can't even feel it there.

The whipped makeup is definitely best for normal or combination skin, as it will accentuate any patches of dry skin on the face. It definitely wouldn't be moisturizing enough for dry skin, unless you apply moisturizer beneath it first. This is almost the perfect product - the only thing missing is SPF protection, but I'm thinking that would likely change the light mousse consistency of the product. Luckily, I wear sunscreen under all my makeup.

I purchased this product at Target in the US for $11 - it will likely be a little bit more expensive here in Canada at any drugsstore. Have you tried this product out? Let me know what you think!

Caudalie

Caudalie Vinoperfect Enzymatic Peel Mask

September 12, 2012

If I could label myself as something in the world of makeup and beauty products.. I'd probably be a self-proclaimed skincare junkie. I have a huge arsenal of products, and continue to buy and hoard despite probably having a supply of products that will probably last me for the next five years. It's a disease, I tell you.

Caudalie is one of those big brands out there that charge a lot more money for their products. While I've purchased many of the anti-aging products for my mom before (she loves them), I've never actually used any for myself, questioning whether the higher price tag really gives you a better product for your skin. As you can see on the package, Caudalie derives its skincare products from grapes, taking advantage of the the anti-oxidant properties of grape seed polyphenols, anti-aging properties of Resveratrol, and Viniferine for brightening and spot correction. The team behind Caudalie consistently strives towards producing natural products for the skincare range, and all products are paraben-free.

I received the Vinoperfect Enzymatic Peel Mask as a sample, and put it to the test. After use, the mask promises a clear complexion, tightened pores, and an immediate burst of radiance. I was actually quite surprised by this mask, as the mention of peeling made me imagine it would sting a bit. Surprisingly enough, the thick consistency of the product makes it similar to a cream, and absorbs/disappears right into skin upon application. The product is so gentle, and there is little to no feeling of it being applied.

After ten minutes, the product has dried into the skin and is ready to be rinsed off. My skin was very soft, brighter, and a little bit tighter - but not stripped of moisture. I was actually pretty surprised with the results since I didn't feel it working during the ten minute time period like a peel typically should. The product is non-irritating, and with prolonged use, the brightening effects would likely be apparent.

For the 3ml sample, I was able to get 3 good uses out of it, meaning that the $40 full sized product for 40ml will give you about 40 uses, equalling out to $1 per use. Of course it's not a full strength peel that you would get if you go to the spa, but this one soothes the skin, and is a great way to take 10 minutes to just relax and let the product do its work.

Available for purchase via Sephora and Caudalie.
