Bundle Up: Faux Fur Parka

January 11, 2015

Zara Parka (on sale!) | F21 Sweater | American Apparel Leggings | Massimo Booties (similar)
Joe Fresh Beanie (similar)| Aritzia Fulton Mittens | Coach & Delilah K Rings

I often get asked this question: How do you stay warm in the Edmonton winter?! The answer: layers & my trusty parka. During the holiday season I came across this parka from Zara and it was basically love at first sight! I loved the army style it had and how it contrasted against the luxe gold details. It's also not your typical puffy parka either, making it stand out against the rest of the options in store. The fur on the hood is fluffy and full, and the material is water resistant. As a bonus, there's an inner lining that can unzip so that it can easily be transitioned into a lighter jacket for Spring & Fall. Dear designers at Zara: thanks for being geniuses. Love, Andrea.

Lounging Over the Holidays: Lazypants

December 26, 2014

I'm a big homebody and when I'm spending downtime at home I need to be comfortable. After a long day at work all I want to do is change into loose, comfy clothes and be lazy. Anyone else with me?

I decided to take this holiday season off work to spend time at home with my family - and you know what that means! Comfy clothes all. Day. Long. I was recently introduced to Lazypants - a Canadian company committed to producing the comfiest clothing for "the after." After work, after a date, after the gym, after... anything, really. After hearing their mantra I was on board and needed to get a pair of their sweatpants for myself.

Lazypants is a Toronto-based company offering soft tees, sweatshirts, and sweatpants. The products are designed and manufactured within Canada using 100% cotton French fleece, making them undeniably comfortable.

Throughout this holiday season I have been living in my Lazypants. They are hands-down the most comfortable pair of sweatpants I have ever tried, and pretty much the only pants I ever want to wear. The fleece lining the inside is so soft, and the material itself is thick and plush which keeps me warm all the time.

Lazypants are currently available in three different pant styles, and they even make them for men & children too. If you're in the market for some warm, cozy loungewear, consider getting yourself a pair of Lazypants. Once you slip them on you'll never want to take them off!

Black, White & Blue All Over

November 11, 2014

Old Navy Chambray (similar) | F21 Skirt (similar) & Belt | H&M Necklace
Coach Watch, Rings & Audrey Bag (old) | Massimo Booties (similar)

It snowed this past weekend. A lot. To be fair, Edmonton made it well into November before having a big snowfall that stuck! These pictures were shot a little while back over Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and I can't believe how fast time flies! I already miss the red and orange shades in the trees and the crunch of the leaves beneath my feet. Winter is out in full force, seemingly out of nowhere. I'll just sit and think about the warmer temperatures while I sip my hot chocolate and more snowflakes fall from the sky. Stay warm out there!

Falling for Fall: The Perfect Hat

October 26, 2014

F21 Tee | Tobi Twisted Max Skirt | Vince Camuto Panama Hat
Coach Clutch, Watch & Heels | YSL Arty Ring | Belt from HK

This fall season I've been obsessed with finding the perfect hat. Fall is the perfect time to layer with accessories, and a hat is no exception to the rule. On a recent trip down to Calgary I had some time to stop by Canada's first Nordstrom. Walking around the crowded store, I saw this hat from a mile away and knew it was perfect for this season. The floppy fedora style fits so well and I love the extra little studs that give it some personality. It's the perfect add on for all my fall outfits and I couldn't be happier with it. Anyone else obsessing over hats this season?

Garden Party: Colour Splash

September 18, 2014

Campre Law Dress (via WORKHALL) | Coach Harlee Heel + Clutch + Sunglasses (similar)
Coach + F21 Rings | H&M Belt

As a little girl I loved having my own little tea parties. Animals seated around the table, sipping their tea and eating their scones. Nowadays tea parties aren't my thing, but garden parties? You bet. A few weeks ago Blink Edmonton announced that they would be hosting a garden party in one of the most beautiful gardens here in Edmonton - at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. With the intent of fundraising for the Edmonton Humane Society, I didn't hesitate to purchase a ticket!

During the time leading up to the event I had no idea what to wear. I knew I wanted something bright that screamed summer, and the pieces in my closet weren't cutting it. Do you ever stare at your closet full of clothes and feel you have nothing to wear? It's the worst feeling! One day I walked into one of my favourite local boutiques and strolled around aimlessly. Nothing on the racks had captured my interest. As I turned around and was about to leave, this dress was off to the side and immediately caught my eye. The feminine silhouette featuring the blue and pink splatter against the crisp white fabric was just the right amount of girly. Once the dress was zipped up it fit like it was made just for me. Perfection.

Food Truck Fun

August 28, 2014

American Eagle Jean Jacket (similar)| Forever 21 Maxi Dress (similar)
Coach Mini Riley (old) | Coach Boyfriend Watch & Rings | Helloberry Bracelet
OAK + FORT necklace | Sam Edelman Gigi Sandals | H&M Belt

Over the past few years food trucks in Edmonton have really come out in full force. I remember back in the day when we had about 2 trucks and I was so jealous that other cities had enough to host food truck festivals! Nowadays there are so many trucks out on the street that it is almost impossible to choose which one you want to eat from. I'm always torn between the innovative offerings, but there are always classics that I order again and again.

Here in Edmonton our food truck festival is called What the Truck - how fun is that name? The biggest event of the year is coming up on September 12th in Churchill Square. Mark it down on your calendar, folks! With 25 trucks available on site, this is a huge event you don't want to miss. See you there!

Special thanks to Molly's Eats food truck for the delicious purple cow! Check her out on Twitter & Facebook.

Blue Skies: Abstract Prints on the Promenade

August 07, 2014

Forever 21 Dress | H&M Belt
Coach Heels, Boyfriend Watch, Mini Riley Bag & Sunglasses (old)

The summer weather lately has been amazing - hot, sunny days with blue skies and often not a cloud in sight. There's so many spots in Edmonton where you can just sit and enjoy the sunshine, but one of the most beautiful spots has to be on the Victoria Promenade. You get amazing views of the river valley and the south side of Edmonton, and it is just so peaceful.

With the weather being so hot I've been loving light summer dresses and this one with the abstract floral print was perfect for a stroll down the promenade. Sunglasses, sandals and boyfriend in hand made it 100% better. Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine just as much as I am!

Abstract: Playful Printed Shorts

July 12, 2014

Forever 21 Tee | Forever 21 Shorts | Zara Sandals (old) | OAK + FORT Necklace (old)
Coach Clutch (old, but love this!)| Coach Watch (old) | Gifted Bracelet

As the days go by, scorching summer temperatures are returning to my city. I've been finding myself attracted to abstract prints, which lead me to purchasing these fun shorts! I'm also really loving slouchy tees since I can eat all the ice cream I want without anyone knowing, and the loose fabric helps with keeping me cool. Dual functionality, people. I love it.

What are you currently loving in your summer wardrobe?

Scribblz

June 19, 2014

Campre Tee | Skort c/o Loudmouth Golf | Gifted necklace
Coach Heels, Sunglasses (similar) & Watch (similar) | Clutch from HK

I've never been a golf player. I tried it once and hated walking the long distance trying to find my ball. Mini golf I can tolerate, but the quick game doesn't compare to the amount of time spent on a golf course. So naturally I don't own any golf apparel and have always thought that women's golfwear is pretty boring. Polos, shorts and skorts in simple colours look great, but I don't think it's anything to get excited about.

But I've been proven wrong. When I first found out about Loudmouth Golf I was surprised to find that there was a company dedicated to statement golfwear! The company makes a ton of fun prints that will add some spunk to the golf course and they're not just for men either. I picked out a skort in the Scribblz print according to the fit guide and it fit perfectly. I was actually quite surprised with how well it fit my petite frame. The skort feels extremely durable and I don't even have to play golf to wear it. So whether you're looking for a new statement outfit piece or you're an avid golf player, I'd recommend checking out what they have to offer! (Psst, I love the Drop Cloth print!)

The 3 F's: Swimwear Trends 2014

June 10, 2014

Fringe, flounce, flutterkini. These are some of the hottest trends in swimwear for this summer and I absolutely love these styles. Back when I was shopping at Swimco for my trip to Mexico, I had the opportunity to check out all that Swimco had to offer. The fit experts in store were able to help with pulling these styles for me to try on and narrow down the pieces that were perfect for my body type.

1 / 2 / 3

4 / 5 / 6

Of these three styles the flounce is my favourite, with fringe being a very close second. Flounce bikini tops have a layer of fabric that flows with every step you take. They're especially flattering on those of us with smaller chests as they are bust enhancing. Huge bonus! Fringe has been a trend for a few seasons now and it gives a similar enhancing effect as the flounce tops, but with a boho vibe. Depending on the length of the overlay, they can offer a bit more coverage than a bikini.

Up above are some of my favourite fringe and flounce bikinis currently carried by Swimco. I love that there are a variety of colours and almost every brand has something to offer. I purchased the Eidon Vice Frill Bandeau before I booked my trip as I loved the colours in the print, so Swimco sent me off with something else for Mexico...

Seafolly Tribe Tie Front Halter | Seafolly Ruched Bottoms | Sun'N'Sand Hat

When I first saw the Seafolly Tribe Tie Front Halter I was drawn in by the print. I loved the bright colours mixed in with the darker shades, and the fabric was so soft and the halter fit so well! I was so comfortable in it and knew I had to take it with me on my trip.

I've got to send a huge thank you to Swimco for all their help in prepping me for the beach. I love that they are able to bring in a ton of unique swimwear for shoppers and provide the help needed to find that perfect swimsuit. If anyone is looking to go off to a sunny destination or even just head to the beach for a weekend, check out Swimco! They've got stores across Western Canada and have now opened their online shop. Happy shopping!

Disclosure: Swimco provided me with a $100 gift card to shop for swimwear. Views expressed in this post are solely mine. I was not expected to feature my shopping experience, nor obligated to do so. This post is 100% my opinion, and as always, my priority is to you, the reader, to present an unbiased, thorough review.

Summer Sunshine

May 26, 2014

Soprano tank via Nordstrom | F21 Lace Skirt | AE Jean Jacket | Steve Madden Sandals
Salvatore Ferragamo Sunglasses | Clutch from HK | F21 Belt | Bangles: F21 & Ebay

Spring has finally chosen to stick around and Edmonton is hitting temperatures in the low 20s. What better to do than to shed all the layers and wear next to nothing? Just kidding, I will keep myself clothed. Over the winter months, I accumulated a ton of skirts in my wardrobe and never had the chance to wear them. I kept waiting and waiting for the weather to be half decent and spring just never came. Now, lucky for me I'll be torn between deciding what skirts to wear and what to wear them with. Hooray sunshine!

PS - like my Mexican tan?

Goodbye Winter: Leather Accents & Boyfriend Jeans

April 17, 2014

Noul Blouse | Old Navy Boyfriend Jeans | Coach Harlee Heels
Coach Clutch | H&M Necklace | Coach Stackable Rings

As I type this, snowflakes are falling from the sky and the road outside my house is covered in snow. COVERED. It's the middle of April! Guess I should've known. You know that saying, "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"? Yeah, that's me every year. *Ashamed*

Last week when I thought winter was gone for good, I did a little shopping and picked up this lovely blouse from Noul (formerly Loft 82). I adore the simplicity of it with the high low hem, flowy fabric, and leather accents. Add some slouchy boyfriend jeans and my new favourite pair of heels, and I'm out the door ready to go. Now if only the snow would melt so I could repeat the process again...
