Manicure Monday: Revlon Moon Candy in Orbit

August 12, 2013

Happy Monday! It's been a busy week in my life and things are about to get hectic. This weekend I'll be heading off on a family vacation for two weeks - hitting up Vancuver, Seattle, Portland and Victoria. I seriously cannot wait! If you live in any of these places and have any food or shopping recommendations for me, let me know please!

Earlier this year, Revlon introduced a new line of nail art polishes to their line of products, and I picked up two shades from the Moon Candy collection to try out. These particular polishes caught my eye because they were dual ended, and had a flakie polish as one of the options. Other options were the Expressionist (dual shades) and Neon (white base + neon colour) polishes, but if you've followed me long enough, you'll know I love my flakie polishes! So the first that I have here is in the shade Orbit, which consists of a deep indigo creme polish and a topcoat full of large lavender flakes that shift to a sky blue shade at different angles. The polish was pigmented, and the formula was so easy to apply. However, the flakes in the clear polish weren't completely flat, giving the nail a rough finish even after the application of a top coat. With a wear time of 3 days before the first visible chips, this definitely isn't the best polish out there on the market. Hopefully the other shade I purchased from this line has some better results!

  2. Beautiful combination! I bet the topcoat would also look great on light polishes (:

  3. Have a great time on your trip Andrea! Enjoy! Wow, 3 days!!! I think you did a beautiful job with the application. It's a shame the top layer can be rough. It's a beautiful look! I don't know what's up with Revlon. They use to be the leaders of the makeup arena and they've fallen so far behind.

  5. Andrea, I'm still sad that I'm going to miss you again. It's too bad, I booked this trip back in June. Anyway, try Espana (Spanish tapas). I heard it's pretty good.

  7. Hello, Andrea. A few recs for Victoria (we are frequent visitors) include Cherries Breakfast Bistro for both brekky and lunch. A casual place located in a strip mall (behind a gas station) where service can be slow but the food is worth the wait. Save room for the cinnamon buns! Also in the same Wilkinson road area is Crooked Goose Bistro. A fantastic gastro bistro with proper pints and serious food disguised casually. Do not miss the truffle fries. If you happen to tour Butchart Gardens, their high tea is good value in a beautiful environment. Have a lovely trip.
