Happy Monday everyone! Guess what? There was a massive blizzard here in the city over the weekend and it's slushy everywhere. Spring and Winter still just can't make up their minds! I had fun splashing in the puddles and almost slipping on the sidewalks a million times.. hope your weekend was better!

This week I've got an amazing shade of polish to share that I received in my February Topbox. Deborah Lippmann's Ray of Light. It's described as an indigo polish with a 3D holographic finish, and I would say thats almost spot on. The indigo base has a jelly-like consistency to it - a little thicker than normal, but easy to control and with a certain transparent quality to it. The holographic flakes in the polish flash from orange to green, and copper to red. It's absolutely gorgeous, and two coats will bring it to near full opacity. Wear time was up to 5 days chip free, and it maintained a beautiful shine throughout the time I wore it. I couldn't stop looking at it! This polish can probably be duplicated by wearing a dark indigo polish, and topping it off with a flakie polish like Essie's Shine of the Times!

Hope you're enjoying the long weekend and getting in that quality time with your family and loved ones :) I for one somehow managed to make my schedule a hectic whirlwind this entire weekend, so I feel like I haven't had the chance to sit down and relax at all. Oops, at least it's Reading Week!

Here in my city we've been blessed with a couple days of warm weather (above zero, whooo!), so feeling that Spring is just around the corner, I dug out this pretty pink polish from Revlon that I've had for quite some time now.

Revlon Popular is a pale, milky pink polish studded with small silver glitter and pearlescent hex glitters. At two coats the polish reaches near full opacity, and due to the presence of the glitter, this polish stays chip free on my nails for up to 6 days. Seriously incredible wear time. What I love most about this polish though, is the Deborah Lippman-esque quality to it. Popular was released around the same time as Whimsical, which is the dupe to DL's Glitter in the Air. The jelly-like quality of the polishes really make them special, and considering Revlon is at a much lower price point, I'm all for it! Now if only they'd make more like these two..

This week I've got a classic Deborah Lippmann shade to share with you - Lady is a Tramp. I picked this shade up a couple years back on a trip to Hong Kong and can't believe I haven't tried it out yet! The bottle is completely different from those that are made now, but I'm sure the colour is just as rich. Lady is a Tramp is a gorgeous deep red creme, with a jelly-like consistency. It could easily pass as a one coat polish - which will look more like a fuchsia-red when applied. After the second coat, the colour deepens and takes on the mature, deep red.

The formula of this was spot on: not too runny, yet thick enough to flow and be easily controlled during application. The polish dried with an incredibly glossy finish and lasted up to 5 days chip free. I'm thinking I need to get on the Deborah Lippmann train!

Since I do paint my nails once a week, this will be perfect for a more regular posting schedule - it motivates me, and gives you all something to look forward to.

For any of you nail polish fanatics, I'm sure you're no stranger to the amazing glitter polishes that Deborah Lippman produces. Over the past couple months, Revlon has been producing nail polishes to mimic and almost be perfect dupes for Deborah Lippman shades. Although I'm not a big glitter fan, Deborah's shade 'Glitter In the Air' (GITA) was a beauty that instantly captured my attention. Looking at it just makes me happy, and I think of cotton candy!

In Canada, Glitter in the Air would cost you $20+ for a bottle.. something that I'm not exactly fond of spending on if I don't have to! When I found that Revlon had produced Whimsical, which on the surface looked exactly like GITA, I set out to hunt it down. I finally found it, and at just under $5!





In each picture, Whimsical is seen at three coats, and finished with a top coat to add extra shine. The polish itself is actually quite sheer, and takes time to build up to reach even a degree of opacity. What seems to be a pastel blue base, is actually a faintly blue tinted jelly. This polish would have no problems being layered over any colour, since the base is just that sheer.



The formula is smooth and easy to use, but I found the polish tended to cluster in an area of the nail if there were any particles on the brush! The formula is a little runnier, and the sparse glitter particles may not always appear on the brush. Take a good look before swiping the colour onto the nail. What's nice is that the formula is easy to maneuver, so you can move the glitter around to your liking.

From what I've read, Whimsical is just about a dead on dupe for Glitter in the Air. And for a quarter of the pricetag of a DL bottle.. I'd say, snatch this up if you see it! Each display only carries two bottles.
