Manicure Monday: Great Minds Pink Alike

July 22, 2013

Happy (still) Monday! It's 11:55pm here in Edmonton as I type this, but hey, it's still Monday in some parts of the world, so I'll take it. I've been crazy busy and MIA this past week, but I promise to get back to emails and comments ASAP once this week is over! I competed in a cooking contest this past weekend and can't wait to tell you all about it!

This week on my tips is another shade from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors collection - Great Minds Pink Alike. To be honest, this shade is easily dupe-able and probably quite similar to a lot of the shades I own already. It's a coral-pink polish full of deep pink shimmer, which looks great on both fingers and toes in the summer months. Surprisingly, the formula was quite thin and sheer, meaning I had to apply three full coats to achieve opacity with this shade. At the two coat application mark, it almost has a jelly finish, which some of you may prefer. Having to apply so many coats makes the polish have a decreased wear time, where I started seeing chips at the end of two days. Luckily there's lots of dupes out there, and if you want me to suggest any, let me know in the comments below.

Have a great week everyone!

Manicure Monday: Kim-pletely in Love

July 15, 2013

Happy Monday! Well, it's coming to the end of Monday, so I hope you all had a great start to the week! And of course a fun weekend as well - just think about it, another 4 days and it's Saturday again!

This week on my nails is a baby pink shimmer polish from Nicole by OPI's Kardashian Kolors series. The pink shade is chock full of blue shimmer that shines beautifully under the light, and it so appropriate for romantic dates or even wedding days. The formula is smooth and easy to apply, but the shade is quite sheer, and above I've applied three medium thickness coats to gain a degree of opacity. It wears well on nails for up to 4 days chip free, and I would definitely recommend it if you like the softer pink shades!

Manicure Monday: Red-y for a Pedi

July 01, 2013

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! It's an amazing day weather wise here in Edmonton, and I couldn't be happier to spend the day outdoors in the hot sun. What is everyone up to today? For my American readers - your holiday is coming up soon! Anyone have plans?

Fittingly enough, I have a red polish to share with you today to go with the Canada Day theme! It's an older polish from Nicole by OPI, part of their Kardashian Kolor line. Red-y for a Pedi is a gorgeous red polish, that leans a little orange. From certain angles, it can read as a darker coral polish, but it mostly looks like a classic red that can be worn on any skintone. The formula is a little watery, but spot on in terms of opacity, colour payoff and longevity. The thinner formula was very easy to work with, and was so pigmented that I could get away with just one coat. However, I did go with two very thin coats just out of habit and to ensure that everything was even and levelled out. With up to 5 days of wear chip free, this is a wonderful colour to wear on your tips for days!

Manicure Monday: Still Into Pink

January 21, 2013

Happy Monday! I travelled on slick, pure ice roads this weekend! So much fun... not. Last week my city was sitting at a high of +6'C, and then dropped to -30'C within two days, meaning all the roads now are pure ice. Add a couple centimeters of snow on top, and you've got disaster. At least Oprah is in town tonight? Does that make up for it? Hah, hope everyone else had a fun weekend!

This week I have a brand new Shade from Nicole by OPI to share with you. And better yet, its the perfect Barbie Pink. Get ready to meet: Still Into Pink

Still into Pink is a very bright, blue-based pink chock full of a silvery shimmer. Being my first Nicole By OPI polish (I am an OPI snob..), I was surprised by the brush, as it is shorter and wider than the traditional OPI one. It isn't difficult to work with though, as the bristles spread evenly for a nice application. This particular shade was very vibrant, and perfectly opaque at two coats. Because of the almost neon quality, Still Into Pink does dry matte, but thats nothing that a topcoat can't fix to turn it into a glossy finish. Trust me, this shade is so much fun - I got so many compliments with it on! :)
