Back in December I picked up the mini lipstick set made by Kat Von D. I've always heard pretty good things about the lipstick, and I was on my lip colour binge so I decided to pick up the set.

Each lipstick is about 2" long and contains 0.042 oz. of product. The packaging is identical on each tube, so the only way to differentiate them is by the name printed on the bottom of the tube.

Each tube of lipstick is very lightweight, as the tube is composed of plastic. Unfortunately, the lightweight plastic makes it feel flimsy and cheap, and the cap isn't the best at staying on the tube. If you're carrying the product around, definitely put it in a makeup bag to prevent any accidents inside your purse. The actual lipstick itself is much smaller in diameter than a normal lipstick - I'd estimate it to be about 1/2 the regular diameter. It's not a big deal for it to be smaller, if anything it seems to give greater precision. Not everyone's lips are the same size, so the smaller lipstick bullet allows for precise application and outlining of the lips.

The colours in the set do cover a nice range of reds and pink, but I do wish there was a plum shade included in the set. Adora is the only foil lipstick with microshimmer out of the set, while the rest are matte colours. Hellbent and Whiskey Woman are quite similar in colour, each with just a slight variation to red.

The lipstick itself is very pigmented and long wearing. Even if the product wears off the lips overtime, it does slightly stain lips, leaving behind faded colour. Now, my big problem with the product: the lipstick is not at all moisturizing! If you know me, I need my lip products to be moisturizing or else it's just useless. BUT, the product does somewhat save itself with the high pigmentation.

I did not end up returning this set because I liked the variety of colour - especially since almost every shade was matte. Being able to have many shades without having to commit to a whole tube of lipstick is what appealed to me. If you don't mind wearing a gloss overtop of your lipstick, go ahead and pick up this set. That's what I've been doing everytime I wear a shade from the set. Otherwise, stay away and look for another lipstick.

As Canadians, we almost always get jipped when it comes to the release of new products. Le sigh. The new Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters have been around for some time in the States, and have been causing quite the commotion amongst bloggers. Good commotion though, I've heard nothing but great things about them!

Originally, these lip products were slated for release in Canada early January 2012, but upon doing some grocery shopping the other day I found these babies! They didn't have their own display or anything, and were just lying there untouched.. so exciting! I picked up 6 shades to share with you today - at the time there were only 9 available and I didn't like the other three.

And if you're tired of reading the reviews, too bad! I am in love with these new lip butters. They are quite pigmented for a drugstore product, also smooth and moisturizing like a lip product should be in my opinion. Nothing bothers me more than using a product that dries my lips out like crazy. No thankyou.

It seems as though Revlon has begun to improve the appearance of their packaging. The lip butter is packaged like a lipstick, with an outer case and a twist up tube to reveal the product. The case is a sturdy plastic, reflecting the colour of the product inside, and with a nice diamond crossed design which is great for gripping onto the case to open and close it. The tube is made of metal, and slides in and out of the case with ease. They lock into each other quite nicely, so I wouldn't worry about it opening when sitting inside your purse, pocket, or makeup bag.



The full range contains 20 different shades, which is fantastic because there will be an ideal shade for anyone who wants to try out the product. The lip butter is slightly scented upon application (vanilla? butter?), but it quickly disappears to leave behind a product with no flavour.

I've been testing the product out over the past couple days, and I find I generally get 2.5 - 3 hours of wear with the product. Within the 3 hour range, I will have to reapply, because my lips no longer feel as moisturized, but the pigmentation is still there. The product feels smooth against the lips - no stickiness, no fuss. One thing I would caution though is not to apply this product when you have really dry, chapped lips. The product will catch onto dry skin and make your lips look terrible!

Now onto the swatches - I picked up: Lollipop, Cotton Candy, Sugar Plum, Berry Smoothie, Sugar Frosting, and Sweet Tart.

Lollipop adds a nice pop of fuchsia pink to the lips, whereas sugar plum is more of a neutral lip tone. If you're looking for a nice glossy sheen, I highly recommend cotton candy - I think this colour will look great to add shine to any lip!

I see Berry Smoothie as being more of a mature shade, as it does lean a little more berry red - I wore this one while working this weekend as it is quite suitable for a professional environment. Sweet Tart reminds me of Lollipop, but leans more coral than fuchsia. Sugar Frosting, like Cotton Candy will give great shine and the look of a gloss to lips.

I'm looking forward to expanding my collection of the Revlon lip products! I can't get enough. I'm on the hunt for Peach Parfait, Raspberry Pie, Cherry Tart & Red Velvet. It's like a game!

I am actually so impressed because they perform so well for being a drugstore product. They retail for $8.99 in Canada, and are currently available at Superstore, Walmart & Shoppers Drug Mart. I've also just found them online at well.ca. I highly recommend this product for you to try out! My new HG lip product, I'm serious! And if you can't find them just yet, don't worry. This product is not limited edition and will be part of their permanent range of products. Yippee!

Like I said a couple posts back, I've been on a bit of a lipstick purchasing binge lately. This past summer, fellow blogger Jen of FrmHeadToToe recommended the Urban Decay lipstick in Naked. In her swatches, the colour looked gorgeous, so I kept it in mind and finally picked it up during the VIB party at Sephora. And with the release of the new Naked 2 Palette from Urban Decay yesterday, what better time to post up this review!

The first thing that really caught my attention was the packaging of the product itself. The case is made of a sturdy plastic, and beautifully decorated with swirled and floral graffiti. The lipstick bullet itself is encased by shiny purple metal. The bottom of the lipstick features the handle of a dagger, which I thought was so cute.. it's like your makeup is a weapon!

However, the dagger design proved to be faulty and frustrating for me to open. The first time I attempted to open this product, I would say it took me a good 5 minutes to try to pry it open. The only way to remove the outer case, is to pull using the small dagger handle. The handle is quite small, and features a couple corners to it. After struggling for what felt like 10 minutes, my fingers felt like they were going to bleed. I even considered bringing it back to Sephora to switch it out for a new one since I thought it was defective. Finally, I decided to utilize a thick towel to protect my fingers, and pulled with all my might. FINALLY the case came off. I was exhausted! I kind of wish I had taken a video of it, heh.



After opening and closing the lipstick case a couple times, it definitely loosens up and I have no problems opening it anymore. Thank goodness. The lipstick itself is engraved with the Urban Decay brand and a small sword. It's details like this on products that I love!



I would describe the colour of this lipstick to be a mauvey-pink with a glossy finish when applied. The colour is quite natural, and likely to mimic most natural lip colours. The formula is creamy and moisturizing, which is very important for me when it comes to lip products. It is vanilla scented, which some of you may not like, but I personally prefer a vanilla taste over a gross, plasticky taste that some lip products do have.

Overall, I would have to say that I do love this lipstick. It's a beautiful natural shade to wear on the lips, and is quite hydrating when I put it on. The only downside would have to be being mindful of the packaging. I've read that some people have broken off the dagger, and therefore left unable to open up the product for use again. When carrying it with you from day to day, make sure to keep it in a makeup case to avoid any accidents! :)

I've recently started to love lipsticks and lip colour.. I've bought so many in the past couple weeks and can't wait to share them all with you. I've always felt that my natural lip colour is a little darker to begin with, so I've never had a real urge to seek out anything to add colour to my lips. Until now!

One of the most important characteristics in a lip product for me is the ability to hydrate and retain moisture in the lips. This is why I always choose to go with lip balms - I admit I am obsessed. But the packaging to some lipsticks is just so beautiful. I had heard some good things about YSL lipstick, and was sucked in by the gorgeous packaging.

The lipstick tube is very sturdy, and a beautiful shade of gold. The exterior of the tube is branded, with the background the same colour as the shade of lipstick inside the tube.



The best thing about the Yves Saint Laurent ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 is the pigmentation. You will be so impressed! Just a little dab of colour will go a long, long way. The formula is creamy, long-wearing, and very moisturizing as well. The big bonus for me is the SPF for protection from the sun's damaging rays.



I picked out shade 11 (Rose Culte) on impulse. The bold, fuchsia shade caught my eye and I purchased it before actually even trying it out. Don't know if my impulsive purchases are a blessing or a curse - turns out this shade is VERY bright. So bright that I cannot glide it all the way across my lips. I will dab this lightly across my lips, and rub them together to distrubute the colour evenly, then finish with a high shine gloss on top. The blessing is that.. I use a very small amount of product each time, stretching out the lifetime of the product for me. Woohoo :)
